Hello Sunday Diary

I feel like Sundays are really the only day I have time to be narcissistic on this little corner of the internet.

Let me be clear: I'm narcissistic everyday. It just mostly gets funneled into Twitter. ;)

This requires more thought (and more than 140 characters...), and thus, more time.

What do I have to share?

Hmmmm. I feel like it's nothing original from my brain. I just have a long list of things I've read recently that I feel like must be passed along.

THIS. for one.

It's a must read article and there's a must watch video at the end of the post. I can't even imagine what this woman and her family are going through. It's crazy because she's only a year or so older than I am. Sometimes I feel so mature and adult and then I hear stories like this and feel like I have so many more years left until I'm a real adult and able to handle these kind of trials. I love the video because of all the just raw emotion you see so clearly on their faces. So candid. Nothing contrived. My favorite part is the first half, but the whole thing is quality if you have the time.

Watchwatchwatch.

There are about 50 million other videos I want to post, but I should probably spread those out, eh?

So...hmmm...other things...

Oh yeah, I broke my foot. Oye. I have the worst luck. My poor left side is so battered. Two broken left arms. Shattered the left ankle 2 years ago. And I just broke my left foot.

I guess my dominant side knows how to protect itself.

I was playing soccer (offense) and went to go hipcheck this kid to get the ball from him (that's what hips are for...and mine are a legit weapon). In our scuffle, I rolled my foot...and it kept rolling. It cracked so loud, people a few yards away could hear. Yay? I insisted nothing was wrong and refused going to the doctor. When I still couldn't walk 24 hours later, I went in for some X-rays.

I can't decide which was my favorite part. The awkward x-ray tech trying so hard to flirt with me or when he saw the images.
"Whoa! Umm, yeah you have some funky stuff in your ankle. Did you know? There's like a bunch of screws and a plate in there."

Thanks man. I'm happy to know they're still in there! (Actually, I think my metal ankle kept it from breaking again, which would've been MUCH worse than a broken foot.)

Anyway, it's been great being lazy and sedentary with my new accessory. {And by great, I mean mind-numbing.}
 {I love it so much that I decided to wear it every day! Grey is a great neutral for any outfit.}

I begged the specialist to let me exercise, so after 10 days of inactivity, I had the best workout of my life. 2.5 hours of bliss. He told me not to run or do anything high-impact, but I ran anyway. Not a ton, and I was still wearing my boot, so like that's ok, right?

Actually, there IS an upside. I now have TWO matching boots. Do you know what that means?!
a. Astronaut costume
b. Storm trooper costume (I finally saw Star Wars this month, so I'm allowed these references now)
c. Great opportunity for social experiments in public.
d. Great opportunity for benefits in airports and Disneyland.

If the foot doesn't heal (apparently that happens), then they'll cut me open and put some more metal in. I'm hoping the workouts and spin classes don't keep the healing from happening, so I'll just deny that it'll do anything detrimental.

Something MAJOR happened this week, but it really deserves its own post.

And really, this has been long enough, right?
